Repetitive strain injury of the wrist

Injury:
Swelling of the transvers carpal ligament of the wrist and the tendons.

Symptoms:
Pain, numbness, tingling, loss of grip.

Cause:
Overuse of the hands e.g. writing at the computer, manual workers.

Treatment:
Wrist splints, nonsteroidal medication to relieve swelling (e.g. Iboprofen, Diclophenac), immobilization, massage, stretching. Frequent rest, adjust tools or keyboard. Coopercare for the wrist can prevent recurrence.
